THE
THURSDAY NIGHT DUELS
at Gregor — Clawson
There's nothing like a 1v1. Just you, your opponent, and nine holes on the line.
What This Is
Every Thursday, you're going 1v1 against a new opponent — 9 holes, match play, using your GAM/GHIN handicap so it stays fair. No repeat matchups all season, so you'll get a different challenge every week. Points build toward one combined leaderboard, and the top 4 at the end of the regular season punch their ticket to Championship Night on October 29.
Schedule & Format
- 7 straight Thursdays: September 10 through October 22. Championship Night follows on October 29.
- Two times each week: 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM.
- All 3 bays get used each slot, 4 players per bay — two matches going at once in each one.
- That's 12 players a slot, 24 a week at full capacity.
- Matchups rotate every week, round robin style. You won't play the same person twice.
- You'll alternate between the 7 PM and 9 PM flight across the season — both flights feed into the same leaderboard.
- Members get first crack at signing up before we open it up further.
Registration & Cost
- $75 for members, $180 for non-members — covers the whole season.
- Skins game is optional: $20 a week, only pay for the weeks you want in.
- 24 spots total, 12 per flight, first-come first-served once you've paid.
- Get registered and paid by Sunday, September 6th — that's what locks your spot and gets you into the rotation.
- Entry fees aren't refundable once we've set the schedule, barring anything we approve on our end.
Handicaps
- You need an active GAM or GHIN index to play. If you don't have one set up, reach out before the season starts and we'll get you sorted.
- Your course handicap for the 9 holes comes from your index and the simulator's rating/slope. Strokes get applied based on the gap between you and your opponent, on the harder holes.
- We're keeping an eye on handicaps as the season goes, checking them against how people are actually playing, so things stay fair and competitive for everyone. If someone's results are trending well outside their posted index over a few weeks, we may adjust their in-league handicap for the matches ahead. That's a league-only adjustment — it never touches your real GHIN/GAM index — and we'll always tell you directly before it kicks in.
Match Format
- 1v1, 9 holes, match play. Win the hole, lose it, or halve it — most holes won takes the match.
- If you're up by more holes than are left to play, the match is over right there.
- You've got a strict 2 hours per match, start to finish.
- If time runs out before you've finished all 9: we'll let you finish whatever hole you're on, then that's it. If the match is already decided, it's final. If it's not, the remaining holes get halved and we score it off what's been played.
- Keep your pace up — that's on both players.
Scoring & Standings
Everything feeds into one leaderboard across both flights:
- Win a match: 3 points
- Halve a match: 1 point each
- Lose a match: 0 points
If there's a tie in the standings, here's how we break it:
- Total points
- Holes won minus holes lost, for the whole season
- Head-to-head, if you played each other during the year
Skins — $20/Week, Optional
- Totally separate from the standings. Fresh pot every week, nothing carries over.
- Whoever's in the skins game that week in your flight builds and splits that week's pot.
- Lowest net score on a hole wins the skin. If it's tied, it rolls to the next hole.
- We settle up the same night, once everyone in that skins group has finished.
- You only pay — and you're only in it — for the weeks you sign up for.
Rules of Play & Etiquette
- Standard USGA rules.
- Show up by 6:30 (if you're in the 7 PM flight) or 8:30 (9 PM flight) to check in and get warmed up. We start on time.
- If there's a dispute over a hole or a match, flag it with us on-site that night.
Late Arrivals, No-Shows & Makeups
- You've got a 10-minute grace period. After that, you forfeit any holes that haven't started.
- No-show means you forfeit the match — your opponent gets credited the win.
- We don't do makeups for missed weeks. The league keeps moving every Thursday, and a missed week is 0 points.
- Know you're going to miss one? Let me know ahead of time so I can plan around it.
Technical Issues
Missed shots and technical issues happen. If there's an issue, it's up to the group at that bay to sort out the outcome. If you can't resolve it, I'll be on-site as the league official and I'll make the final call. This stuff happens to everyone — use your best judgment, and remember we're here for the competition, but mostly just to have a great time.
Championship Night — October 29
This one's for everybody, not just the top 4. Everyone plays one more match to close the season out together.
- Top 4 Bracket (Bay 2): the top 4 on the leaderboard play a seeded bracket right in the center bay. 7 PM is the semis — #1 vs #4, #2 vs #3. 9 PM, the two winners play for the title.
- Consolation Matches (Bays 1 & 3): everyone else gets seeded into one last matchup based on how the regular season shook out. These don't touch the final standings — they're just for bragging rights.
- Same format as always: 9 holes, match play, 2-hour cap.
- Seeding comes from final season points, using the tiebreakers above if we need them.
Why you should still show up, even if you're not in the top 4:
- Everyone in the Consolation Bracket gets entered into a prize drawing.
- The skins pot gets boosted for the night.
- Everyone who plays gets entered into a raffle for Gregor prizes — you've gotta be there to win.
